West Alabama Christian School

Childcare

It is our goal to create an atmosphere where children can develop academically, physically, socially, and spiritually while being encouraged to reach their full potential.

We promote developmentally appropriate activities, such as unstructured hands-on play, group story time and themed activities.

Infants

6 weeks to age 1

Your baby’s first year of life is an exciting time of growth and development. Infants are unique and have their own patterns for play, feeding and sleeping. Our teaching staff will provide a loving, safe and nurturing environment that is flexible to your child’s needs.  During these schedules they are entertained with the humming of songs or hearing the words of prayer. Personal attention and interaction between our teachers and your infants will promote basic cognitive and social skills. Talking, reading and singing are some of the behaviors that support development during this critical stage. Daily reports are sent home with detailed information about your child’s day in the nursery.

One-Year-Olds

Toddlers learn through sensory experiences that enhance their cognitive, motor, social and language skills. Our teaching staff recognizes that children may be at different stages of development. While some children may have just started walking, others are already exploring their surrounding environment. We have designed our classrooms and equipment to support safe exploration. Our program offers children a variety of stimulating activities, such as matching and sorting, exploring colors, music, reading and counting. Our experienced teachers reinforce important developmental objectives through these fun experiences.

Two-Year-Olds

The ABeka Curriculum is introduced in the two year old class. Children begin to learn how to count, color and number/letter recognition in a more structured environment. Your children will build a sense of community as they interact, take turns, learn to share, and cooperate with others. Our caring teachers will keep small hands busy and young minds engaged through activities designed specifically for this age group.

Three-Year-Olds

Our three year old program time begins with pledges to our American Flag, Christian Flag, and the Bible. The ABeka Curriculum is continued and children begin to develop writing, language and listening skills and how to follow directions. Hands-on developmental play and arts and crafts are a part of their daily curriculum. To complete the learning experience of our preschoolers, we introduce weekly Bible stories and memory verses using the ABeka curriculum. We believe our partnership with you in laying a foundation of faith in your child is one of the most important goals of our program.
